digital mirror

Image of a person standing in front of the work 'digital mirror'

The simple but technical setup - the camera films and the screen shows this image - is similar in function to a mirror. However, the technology used suggests that the functionali- ty goes beyond that of a mirror. If a viewer tries to look at the screen, the image disappears and a loading sequence refers to a computing process. Does the loading sequence have an end? Waiting breaks the technological illusion. This mirror does not reflect faces, it becomes the object of observation itself.
